Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gotta love stats! Suppose you'll have to take into account that Torres played on the wing for most of last season.

Out of those 14 goals, 4 were penalties the same amount as he missed. You have to say the assists make up for the lack of goals. but i think he needs to be getting between 15-20 goals and close to 10 assists to be a hit.

I think 15-20 goals and 10 assists would be a massive hit to be honest.

Don't get me wrong Alan, I'm a Man U fan! I haven't really made my mind up about Torres yet. Think of my last post as me thinking out loud;)

I suppose when you think about it logically, Forlan was abismal in England, great in Spain. Torres was good in Spain, would that make him crap in England? (Especially when you think of Morientes!) I know that doesn't make any sense, and I'm not trying to start a fight....

    I'll just go....

I cant find the stats at the moment but stats wise that would put him up and around rooney and ronaldo.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. . . I hope to god he scores in this tournament, just to get all that sky '20 million-0 goals' type hullabaloo finished with before it starts!

Exactly and around Rooney and Ronaldo (2 of the best players in the league) on his forst season would be MASSIVE success. Might be too much to ask for his first year. But we can all hope.

(At the risk of being flamed) Been watching Torres for the past couple of years in La Liga and I honestly think he wastes too many chances, I think Athletico will be more prosperous without him, I do wish him the best though, always admired him although he ALWAYS scored against Barca, it was like a curse! Except for the 6 - 0 last year.:D

I think the appropriate phrase to describe Torres is that he's a jack of all trades but a master of none.

He's tries to do a bit of something - somewhat like Kluivert. He drops back to try to get the ball and start something, but when the cross flies in, he's nowhere to be found. And yet when he plays deeper, he sometimes has that selfish striker's tendency to try and finish everything himself. Also needs to work on his finishing and 1 on 1s. This is the main reason why his goal tally is pretty poor despite the entire Atletico team being built around him.

    Get in there!

1st goal 12 minutes into his first start. could see him getting another one or 2 in this game now. Thats a bit of a weight off his shoulders now anyway, good timing, a week before the prem starts. nice finish.

In the opening minutes also very impressed with Insua, looks very very comfortable. Lucas looks comfortable as well.
