Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rafas Beard - How many points is it worth?

Over on RAWK there has been much discussion (some of which has spilt over into the wider 'blogosphere') as to just how many points Rafas' goatee might be worth by seasons end.

Tis a tricky one as the impact of facial hair in the clean-cut 21st century has yet to be fully tested. Is there another football manager with beard or even ambitious sideburns whos' team is doing well?

I think if he keeps it smart and businesslike its good for 5-7 points, which all things being equal could easily be the difference between 3rd and 1st in 2007/08.

I think he indicated in a interview with skysports that it will be gone by start of season.

EDIT: 5/6 points if it stays on:p :p

On the LFC.tv commentary for one of the friendlies they said his wife liked it and he was only shaving it when Liverpool lose a game. So if he has it come the end of the season... :)

Facial hair and success are inseparable at Liverpool. Now all we need is a few perms.

yeh think it will be till we lose a match so hope he has it for a while. i think he looks **** cool with it!!!

    5-6... Its a "I'm a ninja.. don't mess with me muthaf***er" look.

It would be more effective, but he seems to be getting that bloated BGRH look to him, that makes you think he's getting too lardy...

Wonder what Torres would think if he was asked to get a perm for the good of the team??

It could work both ways, he could end up looking like Bob Geldof, but that would mean we'd be unbeaten......chances are he'll be shaving it at least once a month ;)

And a striker with a tache - is what's been stopping us getting our hands on #19

I reckon it is worth 4/5 points at most, if he turned it into a bushy tache it'd be worth 10 or more.

I would say it'll be worth at least 4 t shirt designs and 5 banners minimum by the start of the season though.

Add a mullet and where home and dry next season. Deffo worth another 4-5 point more on top of the points for the beard.

A photo shop effort of what that would look like would be good....or maybe not.

they get 10 points for his beard but even that wont put them into contention for a title :D

I do actually think this could have more of an effect then people realise. For the lads that are with him every day in training etc, its a whole new badass persona. Now that we've built up a perfect record for preseason (remember last seasons joke of a preseason?!) i think its definately worth hanging onto. It could actually make a slight difference in games, im sure players at any level hate to lose any sort of run they're on, especially if theres some sort of gimick behind it. Our college manager before said he wouldn't shave off his porn star moustache (big crazy bushy thing!) till we lost a game. We didnt lose another game all season, won the league by miles! Some of that is somewhat drunken rambling, but every little bit helps, every little thing thats in your head, while your playing, to motivate you that bit further.

I also love that its a transition from nice guy not really challenging Rafa to "this means war" serious business Rafa with money and a proper team the way he wants it.

in fairness mate this is the kind of stuff discussed in the superthread all the time. will we just not post until someone has a massive piece of news?! pretty boring that, and would kind of defeat the whole purpose of this forum

This thread is actually part of a cunning test, to see how many Pool threads can be started without the mods busting a blood vessel! ;)

Also this chat could'nt have a poll in the megathread.

    Mike.
