Simao going to Atletico, Quaresma for Pool?

Atletico Madrid have reportedly agreed a €20million deal to sign Portuguese winger Simao Sabrosa.

Why is this important?

About a fortnight ago Graham Hunter said on Newstalk that Atletico and Liverpool were both in for Quaresma. He said Porto were going to play the two clubs off each other, but if Atletico should drop out, then Liverpool would be in a better position.

Now since then we have signed Babel, but who knows... watch this space...

IIRC Porto ruled out selling him. Can't remember the exact details and don't have time atm to go digging out the statement but iirc it seemed fairly definitive.

Well with a host of clubs gifting them huge amounts of money, they don't need to sell.

Anderson, Pepe, Ricardo Costa and Hugo Almeida = €70 million, and Lucho Gonzalez might end up going as well, so thats another few million 15m/20m ?(they only own 50% though)

Quaresma is a great player. Very similar to Ronaldo to be honest, albeit not as pacy. Dont think Liverpool will be in for him though given recent signings.

Nope, just anytime i've seen him (which i ain't claiming to be loads), he hasn't impressed me very much. Or actually, more precisely - he has impressed with one piece of play and then put me right off him again the next!

But if he joined (which i don't think he will, Heinze will be last signing i reckon) i would give him a chance and if he was decent, give him credit.

i agree with millersangel to a certain extent - Quaresma is a bit of a dancer. He also has a reputation for having an attitude problem (when he was with Barca).

Simao is a much better player than quaresma. On his day, Quaresma is fantastic but Simao put's in class performance after class performance. Great signing although benfica are a little screwed now
