Select tags in IE

Have one that I hope has a really simple answer... Select tags in a form over a certain length which i haven't figured out are being displayed stupidly in IE... basically when clicked they start from the top of the screen and work their way down... they dont drop down from the actualy select box... In FF this works fine...…

In FF this works fine... I've noticed it happening on other sites too... like cbg.ie...

Is there any way of making the drop down only show ten elements and scroll for the rest in IE?

use the size attribute but this will change it from a drop down to a scrolling list.

That kind of changes the entire style of the drop down...

It seems to be just IE7 on XP that this occurs on... its fine on vista.
