Advice needed on buying an MTB

I'm hoping to buy a new MTB in the next month, to do a bit of weekend stuff and I need a bit of advice. I'd like a decent hardtail with disc brakes. I've been looking at the following few bikes..

Giant XTC 4.5 in Cyclesuperstore...E750ish, didn't really wanna spend this much..

Since the Giant and Lapierre are local you can avail of a test ride. Get whichever feels better to you.

If this is your first MTB I wouldn't recommend buying online.
