Saw a lad at the range today with an M4 with red-dot Aimpoint
that was chambered to fire .22LR and semi.

It was very light and felt like a toy.
(My Toy Airsofts were heavier than it).
If I had seen it online someplace I could have been
tempted to get one but after the lad was good enough
to give me a gawk at it It just felt too light and delicate.
(Not to say it was not nice but I thought it
would have been more solid and heavy feeling)

Must say it was the most unusual thing I ever saw been fired
at the range so far. And Loud for a .22
I thought when the lad took it out that it
"was" an Airsoft AEG that he was just going to fire for fun and
thought they would not go 50m. When I saw the spotting scope come
out and .22's been loaded into spare mags it caught my attention.

Nice to have as a show piece though. Certainly raised some eyebrows.

Belive me they arent that delicate.:D
They are machined AR15 aluminimum lowers with a 22lr blowback action upper.
So not much difference bar the upper and mag than a USGI M4/CAR.
Yes they are light all right, but that makes them ideal 1st gun trainers or for backpacking or al day carrying. You didnt eyeball who made it be chance???
Or get this chaps name???Cos I sure would love one of these meself.:D
Good to know that there is one or so about as they obviously made it past the "idonlikedelookodat" DOJ/Garda crowd.:D

    Didnt catch the Owners name.

(I have this bad habit of chatting to people on the range and never
finding out who they are or making introductions)

Said he got it imported from England but as far as I can remember
he mentioned the Sabre Defence webpage (which is US?)
(I think you sent me their link before when I was looking for info on the FAL)
I think he needs to send the bolt back for a bit of work on it as
he reckons it was not the best and was causing the rifle to be
    inaccurate.

Sabre has or at least did have when I bought from them a UK manufacturing facility. They are now starting to make a big name for themselves on the US civilian market. You'll see them advertising a lot in US mags recenlty. They are renowned for quality barrels. The rifle I bought from them had a less then perfect lower receiver forging but that did not detract from an otherwise well put together accurate rifle. They are good value for money but I'd say Oberland would be a good choice too as they can customise to your liking.

Sabre Defence.Good enough for me!:D Yes they are UK based, run buy Guy Savage. But have moved most of their production R&D facilities to the US ,as the UK is too anal for this sort of thing.Am amazed Packass that you would have got a not so good lower from them. They are USMILSPEC govt suppliers. So the stuff has to be dead on ,within Govt specs anyway.
Oberland most deffo.IF you can afford their prices. Uppers and lowers cut from the same block of steel.Unbeliveably close tolerances in the gap between upper and lower.Made in Germany, says it all.:D

So was that yourself that I briefly met yesterday?
(I was the dude dressed in black) or is there more than
one owner of one of them here in Ireland?

I'm still trying to get over how light it was about 5 Pounds in weight?

I would like in the Future to try get an FAL in .22LR but would be
talking distant future. Big and heavy not very practical
to be carrying around all day but it would be just for pure
greedy urge to own a fire-able one.

    Nope. Wasn't me. I don't own a 22lr rifle.
