Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Strangest thing happened today. Bike started fine at mine, took a spin to a mate's where it promptly failed to turn over. Checked all connections etc. and still no go. Jumped it off his car and it fired up instantly. set off from his but tosser in Clonee braking suddenly resulted in my bike stalling and it wouldn't re-start! arrrrghhh. Mate came down with leads but bike would do nowt but click (starter solenoid, but no turnover). Had to ring Carol Nash recovery service. You have to ring a number in England, then they connect you to Axa in Athlone! who organise the recovery. The van showed up 1hr later which is good at 4pm IMO. recovered back to my place-hopped in car an legged it to the only place I'd have a chance of a new battery at 16.50 on a MONDAY-bloody Halfords!! 65 squids for a new battery and all is well. Well, that's my story for the day. I have that number of Axa in Athlone now though, so I won't ring the CN number in England in future. Will post it here later for folks to note down. They have access to the CN database cos yer woman was able to tell me what bike I was on when I gave her the reg.

    Edit: It's 0906 486300.

Cheers for that number , hopefully won't have to use it, sorry to hear you had to
adid you check the regulator to be sure ? same thing happened to me at Christmas, had to change the battery and the regulator, turns out the altenator too, but it fine now

Cheers Horatio-I put an ignition circuit tester on it and it's all green. The battery that came out looked old, possibly even original. Like I said-It wouldn't take the jump the second time with the old battery in situ but with a new battery it fired up right away. I'm thinking if it were the regulator or alternator it would have made no difference with a new battery over a jumping battery. Fingers crossed anyway. I need this bike to keep running as my other one is half disassembled getting an overhaul!

Hey murphaph - I had a similar thing happen a while back - started it up... went for a spin, pulledover and went to start it and nothing... all fuses ok. Got it home and found out that it was corrosion around the contacts - cleaned it all off and it started agian. Looked a bit like washing powder around the terminals. I am sure it would be noticeable but something to check in future?!

First thing I looked for Drax! I own a Renault Megane, so electrical 'oddities' are a specialty :D The Megane used to often click like crazy, purely down to dirty/corroded contacts on the battery which seemed to require attention every few months.
