It's directly behind the Bishopstown Bar but not connected to it.

The Heaven Pizza in Ballincollig is generally ok food-quality-wise and for service, but the premises always strikes me as badly needing a bit of work. I always think a restaurant or retail outlet in general that has weeds growing in broken window boxes (as an example) has an owner that lacks pride in his place.

Agreed. That's basic stuff. Have to have the place looking maintained, as it doesn't augur well if that's the standard they're happy with.

Big lump of fresh Hake the other day from Rielly's. It was delicious.

Where is Reillys garage in Biahopstown?
I'm going hunting that fish supper!

    That answers my question, thanks.

    Exactly.

Golden Fry for the win, no chipper in Cork comes near it.

Looney's in Blackpool have the cheapest batter sausage I've come across - €1.10
Usually get a scoop of chips free with that.
Good chips, too but I haven't had anything else from there.

Golden Fry gets my nod too, I've not been disappointed with anything from there yet, wings, burgers, scampi, cheese & onion pie is the best in the city too.

Its better than Lennoxs for me, which can be very hit or miss with its grub, when its a hit, its good chipper food but its not really consistent, IMO.

Love KCs too but rarely go there as I've no interest in queuing up for 15mins for food.

KC's and Jackie Lennox. Even though, god forbid, I sometimes really enjoy a McDonalds too! Depends on the mood.

    New Year's Resolutions:
    Try:
    Golden Fry
    O'Reilly Bishopstown

  • Registered Users Posts: 227 ✭✭bigbrotherfan

I've been into O'Reilly's twice. Didn't appear very busy either time but I reckon that's because it hasn't been widely advertised and not so many people know about it. I'd say the more people who sample it the more popular it will become.

Golden fry is crap-they give you small portions of everything

    Where abouts is it

It's in the Spar shop that operates out of the Texaco fuel/service station in Bishopstown. It backs onto the back of the Bishopstown Bar. The next time I'm in there I'm going to tell them they should have a Facebook page or something that people can link to.

A business having zero online presence in the second decade of the 21st Century is unwise, especially when it's actually difficult to see there's a chipper there at all.
I'd say the more people who sample it the more popular it will become.

Hopefully they'll keep serving up those big lumps of fresh fish.

It is just beyond the Bishopstown Bar at the Texaco garage. There is a sign for it at the side of the garage.

    Yes that's a good place.

Is KCs as popular as ever? I'd say over Christmas, with a lot of people returning home for holidays, business should be good because lots of people have a visit to KCs on their to do lists on a return to Cork.

Passed by on the bus earlier this evening, and there was a big queue outside waiting for the place to open.

If it's anything like their original outlet, it's very good.

Rielly's chipper in Texaco petrol station shop, in Bishopstown, does a lovely piece of fresh fish (from Union Hall) in batter.

    Endorsed.

    Top class chips.
At worst, as good as Lennoxes, if not slightly better.
    Kids thought they were.

Handy they take VISA as well. A rare thing in a daycent chipper.

The piece of hake I got from them could've fed two people, there was a bit of raw batter, but the hake was delicious, nice chips as well. Don't expect a speedy service like Lennox's though.
