Am I mad to be even considering buying one of these?

    00 or 01, 3.0 V6, Full Jag Service History.

Anything to be wary of? Will it make me look like Arthur Daly!?!

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Nice car by all means. Nice price at this stage too :D

Our MD has had the 3.0 from new ('99). He's had some issues but all in all it has proven reliable

Its in perfect condition with no expense spared in its maintainence since he bought it is 2003. It really is mint and I'm sure he will do a good deal!!

A friend of mine has that one, an '01 3.0. Very nice car. Stately, and very British (mean that in the same way as BMW is very German).

For the money, an S type is a great buy, just make sure it's auto with leather in silver.

Auto + leather for sure. But why silver? I think that is a fairly uncommon colour for an S-type. BRG is good as is navy metallic (probably the most common)

colours are subjective I supppose, I just think the dark colours don't suit it!

Ah, ok! It might be a buyers market for old big petrol barges, but beggars still can't be choosers when it comes to colour

My former VP had a 2002 S-type 4.2 R, monster of a car, he had it for a few years so he must have liked it. He drives a 2005 XJ8 these days.

Edit: This was his old S-Type:

I never took to the looks of the S-Type myself especially the front grill. Always seen it as an American's idea of how a British car should look.

like them with a dark grill, even colour coded. seen a few, takes the cartoon look away from it.

Probably one of the reasons they have the car on the forecourt so long.
