Or should this be injury crisis?
"Ledley had his knee operation after playing for England at the end of the season and is doing well with his rehabilitation and the specialists are very happy with him," reported Martin. "He will still be out for probably another two months but, as with all injuries, it does not serve any real purpose to put a strict timeframe and he has not suffered a setback. We always anticipated Ledley being out for this period of time. We added to the squad with Younes Kaboul and he will provide even greater competition to our defensive ranks.

"Aaron Lennon is another one the specialists are very pleased with and he is stepping up his work all the time. We hope to have him back by the end of August.

"Gareth Bale did very well in the first match he played against St Patrick's and was a real force on the left. He suffered an injury to his thigh and later to his knee so he couldn't go with us to South Africa, but he is doing fine now and won't be out for too much l onger.

"Lee Young-Pyo is doing well with his conditioning and hopefully he will be fit in one or two weeks . He saw the specialist last night who was very happy with his progress. Benoit Assou-Ekotto is struggling with a swollen knee that could keep him out for another three or four weeks.

"Lee Barnard is back playing after picking up a toe injury and I also thought it would be better to leave him behind to play games. He is such a fine talent and a goalscorer and hopefully we can do something with him this season.

"Ben Alnwick was over in South Africa with us, but he suffered a medial ligament problem with his knee and came home for treatment. He has since started jogging without any discomfort."

That's our best CB back in two months, two fo our three LBs to miss the start of the season and our other one a doubt...:(

Some things never change at WHL.

Rocha to feature at LB vs Sunderland so?

With all the speculation about Curtis Davies, alongside Dawson, Kaboul, Rocha, not to mention Dervitte, who seems promising, even if gardner is being let go, one would have to wonder about Ledley's fitness, and the amount of worry surrounding him. I, haven't a clue about it. as regards left back,Rocha wouldn't be a bad 4th choice, in fairness. Charlie Daniels travelled to SA, and seems to be on the verge. Who knows. More interestingly, in the absence of Lennon, Tonight at orient saw Keane play behind the BB gun. Defoe came on and did some flat -track bullying. Huddlestone jenas and Zozora feeding that lot? it should be fun.

Bit depressing having King out (long term) again.
Adds to the rumours that he's fcuked for good.

Maybe he'll be used sparingly (when fit), only rolled out for the big games.
But then he'd would never get a chance to build up some good form.
I remeber him being very ordinary in his 1st game back vs Seville.
Real Sickner what ever way you see it.

Big downer having King out for a long spell again. On his day, he is one of the best centre halves around, but its getting him 100% fit and playing games that the problem. He will be badly missed !
