Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has expressed his felicitations to Bertie Ahern over his re-election as the Irish Prime Minister.

In his message, President Ahmadinejad congratulated Ahern, the Irish government and nation over Ahern's re-election by Ireland's parliament as prime minister for a third term, IRNA said.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran, which enjoys enormous potential in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf regions, and Ireland with its position in Europe can reinforce their mutual interests and contribute to regional and international peace and stability," Ahmadinejad said.

OH Noes! We could be in the new axis of evil !

He comes out with this on Tuesday, 24th of July? The carrier pigeon must have only arrived with the news!

Maybe he's trying to lick up to the new "Middle East Envoy" by being nice to his pals back in Europe?

Its nice to see that they have slow news days as well.
