    Naff indeed.

On older cars it might hide a few scrapes or rust bubbles.

But the plebes think chrome is classy when in fact it is bling / gaudy. I cant stand those chrome number plate frames either.

Less is more where chrome is concerned but it does work well in moderation on darker colours.

I think it is the same reason why some people put those cheap strips of chrome from Aldi or Lidel all around the outside of their cars. Bad taste!

    I hate it! Terrible looking!

doesnt look as bad on that merc as i've seen on some cars, seen chrome all over a poor audi a4 once, arches, grill, number plate, and even strips down along the side, it was rough!

I agree chrome, in general, actually can improve the appearance - and raise the price - of some cars

    for example compare these mondeos

    with chrome (nice)

    without chrome (not as nice)

I think the price difference on those Mondeos has very little to do with chrome!

Only car that chrome w/arches work on is merc's, my da used to put them on our '89 740 it looked well, but i think the car has to already have a bit of chrome on them before putting the arches on!

Chrome = very Tommys Wonderland of Value, just like those petrol cap covers people get.

Agreed. Top of range vs. bottom. 2 years age difference too.

p.s. No chrome on wheelarches on either.
