Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Kernel versions <= 2.6.19 do not ignore HUAWEI E220 fake volume
    and try to automount this pseudo SCSI CD-ROM (with windows drivers)
    making the built-in usb-terminal not accessible. At the same time,
    usbserial.ko does not know, that it is responsible for E220 modem
    and it fails to assign itself to the device. Files included in this
    package will help you avoid most of the problems. Even if you
    use kernel > 2.6.19, take a look at the PPP configuration files.

    Solutions are kernel specific.

    openSUSE 10.2 (problem resolved) kernel 2.6.18
    SUSE Linux 10.1 (problem resolved) 2.6.16
    Fedora Core 5 (problem resolved) 2.6.15
    Ubuntu 6.06 (problem resolved) 2.6.15
    Ubuntu 7.04 (problem resolved) 2.6.20
    GENTOO Linux 2.6.20.1 (no problems) 2.6.20

    It worked for me out of the box with Ubuntu with the following wvdial.conf:

    [Dialer Defaults]
    Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
    Baud = 3600000
    Init1 = ATZ
    Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2
    Init3 =
    Area Code =
    Phone = *99#
    Username = ppp
    Password = ppp
    Ask Password = 0
    Dial Command = ATDT
    Stupid Mode = 1
    Compuserve = 0
    Force Address =
    Idle Seconds = 0
    DialMessage1 =
    DialMessage2 =
    ISDN = 0
    Auto DNS = 1

    Would I be correct in saying this would work with the O2 modem too? AFAIR, they are the same device, aren't they?

    Yeah, Vodafone, O2 and 3 are all using the same hardware.

    I had some trouble getting the O2 USB broadband modem to work on my Ubuntu installation, I found many links including this one but could not get it to work. I found this article: <br>http://www.tectonic.co.za/view.php?src=rss&id=1596<br> and this application great. <br>https://forge.vodafonebetavine.net/projects/vodafonemobilec/<br>It is for Vodafone but I changed the DNS address and it works great for O2. After installing the Vodafone application I plugged in the modem but the application did not recognise the modem, after a restart it was fine. Hope this helps
