Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    United:

Van der Saar, Brown, Vidic, Ferdinand, Silvestre, Evra, Ronaldo, O'Shea, Carrick, Giggs, Rooney.

I reckon O'Shea and Carrick in midfield, Evra on the left with Giggs up front.

Bench is Nani, Pique, Fletcher, Bardsley, Kuszczak, Martin and Eagles.

    Chelsea:

Cech, Johnson, Carvalho, Ben Haim, Cole, Essien, Mikel, Lampard, Wright Phillips, Cole, Malouda.

Bench: Sidwell, Pazarro, Sinclair, Diarra, Cudicini, Worley, Hilario.

    Drogba is injured (unspecified)

Loads of pace and trickery up top for chelsea, the united defence will have to be a lot sharper then they were against Inter. Surprised Mikel is in the team today, given the recent stories.

No recognied striker in chelsea's starting 11 which is a bit strange. also 2 keepers on the bench..Still a strong team though. With Essien Mikel and Lamps i could see Chelsea bossing midfield in this one. For actually winning it though id be on the fence..Rooney and Ronaldo can always pull something out.

Tauren, no need to put that in spoiler tags IMO. People come here to find out the score and to comment on the match.

BFassassin, I have p2p for the mac but none which have channels for this game.

I haven't seen any streams that load into VLC available.

Every damn year Sky have to change their presentation style just for the sake of it.
At the rate they are going the scoreboard will be in the middle of the screen next year.

    no need for trolling.

Sorry. shouldn't have called him a woman. But he was bullied out of it.

Ferdinand should have done better-poor defending altogether.

Rooney needs to learn to keep his mouth closed, he seems wound up as hell!

Shouldn't have been booked for that challenge, can only presume that he said something he shouldn't.

no need for trolling ,someday liverpool may be winning things and get to play the shield
but our point has some true, Ferdinand was at fault and should have dealed with the situation better.
    great finish though.

yes, he was bullied out of it, but it was calling him a woman that was trolling. Hence my comment. I don't go in to liverpool match threads and slag off their players.

Crappy game. Great goal from both teams. Both teams are quite weak.
United have Evra in LW, O'Shea in midfield and Giggs up front, while Chelsea have no out and out striker and are missing Terry.

    Could go either way.

Ferdinand was beaten for pace imo, not strength.

the angle of the original defensive run was wrong imo - then he got beaten for pace, and didn't have the strength to get himself back goal side. Not great all round, which is disappointing cause he had delt with everything that came his way well up to that point.

I think Evra is having a great game, not the first time he has been played LW pre-season, and has not been bad in any of these games. Another nice option for us .

As i said, sorry for the insult.
I'm hungover and i'm grumpy when i'm hung over!

Interesting that Mourinho was a bit strange when asked about Drogba, that combined with Drogba going on about being open to leaving for 'economic reasons' a few weeks ago. maybe someones put a bid in for him?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 603 ✭✭✭shatners basoon

He's probably pissed that there are players earning more than him- that'd fit as 'economic' reasons anyway!

andy gray talks some crap - just coz a penalty is hit hard it shouldt make a differnce if it is crap - which all three were.

    uniteds penalties were leagues better.

Were they that bad? All hit hard, but maybe too close to the keeper, but none were scoffed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,430 ✭✭✭Sizzler

Have to say they were 3 quality saves ! Will do a lot for Van der Sar's confidence :D

And equally the fact that Chelsea couldnt score 1 penalty from 3 attempts won't do their confidence any good heh heh :p

with keepers the size and quality of Cech and van der Saar, if they guess teh right way the penalty has to be perfect beat them. The chelsea penalties were not great, but i have seen far worse ones go in. If van der saar hadn't guessed right the penalties would have looked great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,149 ✭✭✭BFassassin

    Is it all over?
    Did United win??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭Mr Alan

    yes they were that bad.

they weren't scuffed, all just hit to VDS side, not near the corner, if he guessed right, they were saved. none of them even tried to send him the wrong way. awful stuff

but tbh i dont think either team was that bothered with the result of the shootout

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

the plusses A cole, Malouda, Ben Haim Carvallho, johnson did ok as did SWP, the negatives Lamps had a stinker.

Agreed. Carricks peno would have looked shíte if Cech went the right way but instead the best keeper in the league came out of it 2nd best today !

In fact for such a quality keeper he has a kak record in shootouts :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭Mr Alan

    Malouda looked good alright.
I think Lampard alway plays like that, only difference is when he scores a goal, people forget!

    YYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS

Though most of the time he does get a bit more involved.

Did anyone notice John O'Shea was playing?

I thought, j cole had an average, better sencond half, Mikel was poor thoguh, too many times took the easy option.
I'm expecting great things from A cole this season.
