I'm getting good and frustrated with my UCD connect email account due to all the junk mail I get sent. I get sent about 5 junk email messages a day and its driving me bananas. So here's my question: How do I get rid? Is there any way you can block the messages because I haven't found anything like

Log into UCD Connect...look up IT Services beside My Courses, My Library etc...Click on it. Look on the left side and scroll down until you see "Puremessage". Subscribe to it. Now all spam messages and possible spam messages will be filtered and put into one collective email. You can either decide to read them in the collect email or just delete it as a whole. Works fine.

    Best,
    Preusse

Can you see your "Your Courses", "Your Library" etc. options on top when you log into UCD Connect? The "IT Services" option should be there next to it.

Never click the 'unsubscribe' on spam - all that does is confirm your address is valid and the spammer can sell that to other spammers!

UCD has a thing called Pure Message but I think that it is only available to staff. (Spam Assassin would have cost them nothing, and they'd have been able to deploy it to everyone!)

Your best bet might be to use Thunderbird or MS Outlook as both of these have good spam filters built in - the catch is that you have to be using them on the wired network!

my ucdconnect mail account was spam free for all of first and second year, now i keep getting emails about receiving postcards from friends, really starting to piss me off, cause it used to be that any emails i got in my UCD account were good ones :o

Oops, that's probably why you, gubbie, can't find it in your Connect site. Sorry about that.

Yep. Just checked my student account and there's no PureMessage for people who aren't staff or postgrads.

Not as bad as viagra or cialis - the spammers must think everybody is crap in bed :)
