There's too much emo whine in this thread

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,183 ✭✭✭Peared

What I find weird is that people are acting like this is something new. The clothes, make up, music and attitudes are just watered down americanised versions of things that were around up to 25 years ago. Its goth mixed with grunge. The old style goths look way way better though. Ah god be with the days, twas all fields etc

Am late 20s but threads like this make me feel 50. Still though..they have:my chemical sisters funeral blood soaked rage. We had:sisters of mercy. We so win.

    omg am old and petty.

I just don't like the whole thing in general. The entire music genre, especially Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance makes me want to get sick, the hair I find ridiculous (a lot of times dyed-black and gelled to the right side), tight-jeans, and godawful-coloured converse runners. Seriously, you're asking for trouble when you're a guy and you wear bright pink shoes.

I've met quite a lot of them over the past while, especially in Galway where it's swarming with them and frankly most of them annoyed the head outta me!! A case of over-indulgence of Family Guy & Monty Python movies, quoting them at the drop of a hat as if they have no other vocabulary!! It seems a lot of them, especially the ones I met, are spoilt bastards where mummy pays for their living while they go around talking as if they know everything-about-nothing and, suprise suprise, corporate America and the "murder for hunt of oil!", while being complete wasters at the same time!!

They ain't depressed people, but spending a few minutes with some of them will make you depressed!!

    what kind of trouble?

do skinny jeans and converse hurt you seriously?

ohh and the bands you mentioned aren't emo - in the music sense - in the slightest.

To all the Emos on here defending themselves - you WILL be embarrassed by your current behaviour when you get older. Of that you can be sure. So try not to get in the way of any cameras. Freaks.

Well, what trouble do you think a guy would get for wearing pink shoes casually, mortage payments?

About as much as the way as knackers or smarmy cúnts' dress. And speaking of which, does my post really hurt YOU seriously?

well considering about 90% aren't old enough to have a mortage no, i don't see anything wrong with someone - even guys - wearing pink.

    nope.

well of course it boils down to what you think is and isn't emo music, to me emo music is the likes of:

    at the drive-in
    sparta
    sunny day real estate
    weezer
    saves the day

all good bands who are what i'd consider emo music.

fall out boy and my chemical romance i'd consider them both manufactured pop punk bands for 14 year old girls, being into the band because the bassist and or singer is hot. they are basically artists who are like generic pop artists but can play instruments (although that can be debated too).

it's just this though i don't understand people say they hate emo's and hate knackers. i can sort of agree with knackers as they actually go out of their way to cause trouble, what do emo's do? generally any emo person i've met have been nice and actually more sounded than your regular folks.

Man this emo shi* is really just getting too much.

Why is Ireland turning into f*cking brighton, what the hell is going on in your lil emo home's?

I'd rather see the country fill up with striking shiney nike tracksuits, air max and dodgey peakced caps, at least their men than this girly ****. it has got to stop.

    Think of the children please.

Give people an inch they take a mile, we decide to live and let live and be a bit more tollerant of utter nonsnse and what happens? all the men in ireland slip their co*k between their legs and start running around like twats from placebo, as a country we have gotten too tollerant of this bullsh|t

You're a guy, everytime you get out of the bed and think of putting on that f*cking make up remember that your IRISH and what that means, find your fecking wellies, and get on with it you c*nt.

I would simlply point out that the muso's who are seeking to defend "emocore" ( think back to Fugazi and see where i'm coming with that one ) versus the modern day "emo" are fight a losing battle.

I will simply say the below is "emocore" , before someone decided that being sad and dressing in black is in

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yud6TmNJWhY

and the below is modern "emo" incarnate. As you can see, a difference in style, image, sound.....etc.

i thought emo was the new cool american word for goths... or is emo just what we used to call "cure heads"??

we were "ravers" xwork jeans yeah deadly buzz man ... :( wish i was around when you could be a mod or a punk.

so emo's are a new bunch of american wannabies then (no different to all the 8-18 year old wiggers I spose...)?

Have you ever heard a cat being crushed by the weight of a fat shíte? Well, it's nothing like that but it is similiar in being absolute horrible.

Or that Emo-bashing music video on youtube (I'm sure someone posted a link of it already!)

"I'm an emo kid, non-conforming as can be.
You'd be non-conforming too if you looked just like me.
Paint on my nails and make-up on my face,
I'm almost emo enough to start shaving my legs."

Emos are no different to skangers, skangers are no different to D4s and D4s are no different to metalheads in the sense that they're all just conforming to some commercially promoted fad.

Personally, I feel free to lol at all of them.

see this is the problem with the term emo as we both have different views on something that should be concrete, it really is just too vague and was twisted and distorted too much by people who don't have a clue really.

most of my friends are emo

but they only turn at the weekend when we're in the vicinity of central bank/ temple bar
they're fantastic during the week, then come Saturday it's on with the eyeliner and crappy bands blasting from ipods
they squeal, they giggle and they wear stupid clothes
they talk about being "randum" and about how everyone hates them
they talk about being individual whilst buying the same Jack skellington hoodie as their friends

Yeah they all look the same, and they are all so miserable, and its all sooo been done before. They have just mutated into Gay Goths. If they didnt act so up themselves, they probably wouldnt get so much stick.

if people didn't give them attention they'd just be a load of saps in eyeliner
but because of media attention and stuff they have become a "subculture"

It would be the other way around dumb****! their are 20 year olds on here bascily picking on a genre that doesnt do anything to them.
So go back to the gym you homo!

Also to the guy who said fall out boy and MCR, you really havent thought out your arguement seeing as you only referred to the 2 biggest, most commercialised bands out of "emo"

and maybe if you open your ears they arent emo. they basicly would be pop rock, with a "look". its like putting metallica into hair metal.

its fairly sad that you get annoyed if a guy wears pink. personally I have never seen any guy wear pink shoes and the only pink they wear would be a little bit on a t-shirt.

your coming off as jealous sorta, like they have more style? I dont know. Just get that vibe off you!

*puts back of hand on forehead* Oh God, the humanity of it all!! My secret is out, how I long to wear tight jeans, black tops with benign sayings on them, dye my hair black (no point really since my hair is already black) and gel my hair to one side. You're right, I'll just just throw my idea of originality and individualism out the window.

    *Runs off to embrace Emo*

Everyone is different, and you can't really assume what someone's attitude will be based on appearance.

Threads like this can often lead you believe that many people here are highly judgemental etc but often times they are created in the heat of annoyance over some issue.

It's more humourous than anything else. :D

Not entirely sure what defines "emo" these people are just attention-whoring twits IMO.

Reading more of this thread apparently I listen to a lot of "emo" music (I would've classed it as rock/pop but whatever), but then I listen to a lot of music regardless of genre, and in honesty I do practice self mutilation but I don't believe the world owes me a damned thing, I'm just unhappy and this is how I deal with it, have I given anything to the world to make it owe me? No! Like everyone else I've taken more than I gave back so I in fact owe the world. Don't have the "emo haircut" either, long hair that could get in my eyes/ears would just bug me.

Well anyway I'm afraid your friends are probably in the subgroup I do find irritating then: "SHEEP!" (a.k.a. phoneys, posers, wannabes, etc...)
Don't care who they're trying to blend with but I just don't like people who only do stuff because others are doing it and they want to fit with the crowd. Gas thing is I can always spot the sheep in the flock no problem. Oh well, at least someday they might grow spines and legs, learn to stand on their own rather than continue their lives as but a mirror to those around them.... (PS my own sister sadly falls under the sheep classification but has thankfully began to outgrow it)
