    Hi,
70 sq m single storey lean-to extension about to be built on c. 90 sq m (inc converted attic) 2 storey terraced house. In Cork City so gas is an option. The oil boiler will have to go because not powerful enough for increased area but we are debating between gas and wpb and have made and un-made up our minds too many times so, opinions would be greatly appreciated.

There is just enough room to fit a storage/boiler room (for 3 tonnes of pellets) at the side of the house so it is possible to consider a wpb. Any opinion as to whether or not it is a good idea to go down this route in a city or is that irrelevant?
    Thanks

    Hi groober,

I'm probably a little biased, but a couple of things to bear in mind.

    1. Oil hit an all time high last week and all long term trends are only going in one direction. Gas tends to follow oil.

    2. If the corrib gas field is not brought in then most of gas will come from Russia in the future

    3. Natural gas customers have to endure a monthly standing order fee whether you use gas or not.

    4. A good wpb can be as easy to use as an oil or gas boiler with little or no maintenance.

    Regards,
    Ned
