ipod trouble

Dont know if im posting this in the right place but i got an ipod and put songs onto it and then deleted all these songs from itunes and when i plugged my ipod back into my computer all the songs were gone from my ipod aswell. Whats going on? Do i have to leave all the songs on my itunes thing for them to stay on my ipod?…

You need to click the box that says "manually update" songs on your iPod. Otherwise, it'll automatically sync with your iTunes.
