Didn't people watch Lost on RTÉ even though Sky were ahead?

I actually switched and started watching it on Sky while RTE were still ahead in the first few weeks.

RTE had ads all over the place, in papers and on their own website, "Lost, Tonight, 10.00" - then when you looked at the schedules they'd scheduled it for 9.55. Loads of people I know missed the start of episodes.

They've done it this year with Prison Break too. At this stage I've learned through experience any time I watch or record anything on RTE I have to set the timer five minutes early, and I still only got the very end of the "Previously ..." on the last double episode.

Earlier episodes I've missed the end of because the damn thing started 7 or 8 minutes late and I was taping it.

At least Sky are capable of starting a program at the advertised time. You might get a few minutes more ads but you're not going to miss anything.

(And don't get me started on RTE starting 24 in a post-11pm slot with no advertising that it was going to be on)

RTE aren't capable of scheduling a .... umm .. easily scheduled thing on the schedulingest day of the year with an electric scheduling machine.

    Hi!
Just have to ask, does anyone know how it's gonna work? I mean usually the reason we have the long wait is because of all the breaks they take in the States for Christmas and all. So is it gonna be straight through for this series like Lost and 24 or does anyone know? Like we're used to RTE taking breaks mid season, but I can't think of a time Sky have done it.

Sky took a break last year for Lost. Sky will take a break when FOX takes a break.

    That's terrible. A month between episodes 4 and 5, and then another 6-8 weeks(probably) between episodes 7 and 8.
Why can't American networks schedule things properly?
Not sure how well this will go down on both Sky and RTÉ, who're showing it only a week behind. Audiences over here aren't used to these kind of breaks all over the place.

I think the audiences here will have top get used to it. The same happened with Lost last year.

That wasn't so bad, though. It was only one(admittedly lenghty) break over December and January. If last seasons Prison Break schedule is anything to go by, there's gonna be 1, 2 & 3 weeks breaks all over the shop in the new year as well.

Wow - RTE have Prison Break 3 days after the US!! They're showing it on Thursdays (starting the 20th) at 21.30.

I read Prison Break were only going to have one break this year which is why they're starting a bit later. (they had two longs ones last year) . I could be wrong of course!!

Three days is pretty good, it must be said.

Datk, where did you hear/read this?

**EDIT** Oops, just saw the other thread so ignore this.

But in the case of Lost it was a kinda more organised thing where they planned to show 6 eps, take a long break, see how it goes, then show the final 16 eps back to back a la 24. And since it worked they're showing the whole season back to back this year. And in that break they seemed to realise the first 6 eps were crap and no one was that interested in Jack/Kate/Sawyer.

As for Prison Break, I suppose this is them trying to keep people happy. Not easy to do. Show it close to States time and people like that, but means having long breaks which people don't like. Catch 22.

The delay in the US in October is due to baseball playoffs which are on the same network as Prison Break. They air all through October so the network doesn't like to put new shows on because they will have low ratings.
