    Games Workshop

Make your own video game at the MissionMaker 07 Camp

3D computer games provide a hugely stimulating way to learn and this four day long Summer Camp allows young people to design and create visually rich 3D worlds for first-person ‘Missions’ - complete with sets, animated characters, dialogue and music.

MissionMaker uses all the principles, design and language of professional game design software, but modified, so that it’s easy to grasp, allowing the player to develop their basic game into something more complex.

Date: Monday 13th to Thursday 16th August 2007
    Time: 11:00am – 2:30pm
Location: Digital Exchange, Crane Street, The Digital Hub, Dublin 8
    Fee: €50 payable in advance

Booking: Contact Louise Morgan on 01 4806200 or learning@thedigitalhub.com

    Who is this camp for?

This camp is for 12 to 18 year olds who play video games and want to know how to make their own.

What will happen at the camp?

    * Playing and learning the principles of ‘real’ games and board games
    * Planning the game in groups to include, the characters, the dialogue, the gaming environment etc.
    * Create the game in MissionMaker by:

Ø Selecting elements from an extensive object library to create a unique game world
Ø Creating and animating 3D characters
Ø Importing music, graphics and video
    Ø Setting rules for play

MissionMaker is an instantly appealing medium that encourages strategic thinking, planning, team work and builds interpretive and narrative skills. And great fun to do!
