Well done Sunderland! Both teams were terrible though, Sunderland stuck at it and pulled through :)

Wow, i can see everyone jumping on the roy keane bandwagon even more now, spurs were so crap, if spurs played any way decent, they would of won easily!

ROFL Sunderland robbed Spurs there McShane was MOM great performance but Sunderland looked very weak up front until Chopra came on, Murphy looked better when he was out wide and Stokes isn't up to Premiership speed yet.

Great start but I still think they have their work cut out this season.

Great start for Keano. Thought McShane and Etuhu were outstanding.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Sunderland gave Spurs far too much respect in the first half. When they decided they wanted to make a game of it in the second, they were the better team. Fully deserved victory for Sunderland, they simply wanted it more.

Dont think Sunderland were robbed either, spurs were very poor didnt have a clear cut chance all game. Sunderland wernt great up front but they forced two good saves out of Robinson where as Gordon had very little to do.

See everyone has been bigging up spurs based on their strikers but i think even today has revealed that in defence and midfield with players missing they aren't really up to much. However i will admit that the injuries are unfortunate for them at this early stage so we will have to wait and see what a full team can do

Sunderland - Spurs end in a 0-0 washout Is what I was poised to post with 30 seconds to play. Jammy but Keane won't care even if he'll want mor from his charges I'm sure.

    Mike.

Oh I laughed out loud when I saw Sunderland turned Spurs over. Early days yet, but if Sunderlnd keep their ethos up they should be safe.

I would be surprised, based on todays showing, if Spurs can take 4th place.

Magpies now 3 up. Big Sam laughing.

People can support who they want for whatever reasons they want. I wouldn't expect anyone else to offer their support to a team for reasons like you point out, but at the same time im tired of people mentioning this whole "bandwagon" thing. I jump on as many bandwagons as i can really, for one thing it makes a game more enjoyable to watch. I support liverpool and that will always come above everything but fukit, whats wrong with "jumping on other teams bandwagon" and getting some pleasure from keeping an eye on their progress and results.

Im such a non conformist im not conforming with the non conformists! Im also a little drunk still. Come on the pool!

On another note, Man City look like a team, even though they've only been together 5 minutes! Quite impressed with them so far, and elano looks very good.

<Edit> They seem to have lost it now a bit, West Ham dominating the match at the moment

good win for sunderland.. a bit jammy but they were the better side imo..

Stokes was woeful, absolutely woeful. Irish or not, he deserves to be slated for that performance. Very disappointing.

Murphy won a few balls and did all right, but sunderland really need more options up front if they continue with that partnership. Chopra/Connolly aren't world beaters, so a viduka/hasslebank type player is needed just to give them a strong target man.

Stokes or Murphy aren't ready to be main men up front. They need experience/strength along side them.

Richardson and Edwards were too lightweight on the wings. Need to be fired up more imo..

Mc Shane was an absolute rock as usual. MOTM imo.

right so we shouldn't bother having a world cup? just hold off untill the rest of planets are filled up and have a planet cup cause what's the point we're all from the same planet.

then what will be the point we're the same universe.

maybe because he did so much for irish football? because he's the best irish player that's ever graced this "planet"

I don't know I hope all Irish people in sport do well no matter what country there in

Paul McShane was outstanding, i love watching him play he just flies into everything. A ledgend in the making.

I was shocked when Derby took the lead but sure enough Benjani pegged it back.

Oba Martins is turning on the style, Newcastle 3-0 up at the Reebok???

The real football starts tomorrow though :D.

Of course he can he's a very experienced manager I don't think he was the problem with England's failure tbh but I also think it could be a long season for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,225 ✭✭✭Chardee MacDennis

i wonder if he does really well this season will it show the difference between club management and international management or will it just prove how over rated england are?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Oh I think most of us know the answer to that already Call me al

Can anyone see past a Liverpool win here? The only serious threat I see on the Villa line-up is Agbonlahor.

Torres starts. Watching it on Setanta.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,288 ✭✭✭✭ntlbell

is it me or does setanta look poor ? like a bit of lag?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,894 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

    I can see a 1-1 draw.

The same could've been said last season when they opened the season with Sheffield United :)
