Got a major service in a main opel dealer - 3 weeks later had no brakes and damp in the passanger footwell because they didnt check rainwater drainage pipes. Guessing that because off all the extra moisture in the cabin the whole air con playing up and basically not working! No front demister, no heat , no rear window demister . Brought it back to the garage who told me it had stopped blowing fuses and by the way needed regassing for 200 euro. They didn't charge me for the inspection as I questioned had they servicesd my car at all after having no brakesa few weeks after a major service. Air con worked intermitantly last night on way home last night but not apeep this morning! Hadn't time to look but guess fuse is blown again

I feel let down as they didn't fix the air con problem .. I can change the fuses myself. So much for plugging a diagnostic machine and finding the fault. Anyone had this sort of problem with main dealers and anyone know a good mechanic in north Dublin with air con experience ? Any Companies that deal specifically with air con units ?

Auto Air in Dunshaughlin are an independent AC company. I got mine regassed there recently for €150. He did a thorough check for leaks etc. while I waited. Took about 45 minutes. The main dealers generally utilise independent specialists anyway and charge you a mark-up for the pleasure.

There is another chap in Tallaght who has been mentioned here several times but I don't have his details.

I can totally understand your frustration, Opel dealers in my experience are a shower of muppets who cannot find their way out of a paper bag with a flash lamp.

I had a Vectra a few years ago that had numerous problems and the dealer was totally useless at diagnosing them and after scratching his head a few times tried to convince me that it was all in my head. Yeah, the car spontaniously cutting out and climate control only working at certain times were all figments of my imagination. I found Opel Ireland to be just as incompetent and very condesending as if they were selling the best product in the world.

You got the A8 regassed there, Anan1? If so, what did he charge you?

Try posting your problem up here.

Some of the guys on that forum really kmow their stuff on Omegas - I've used it a number of times over the past year.

Depending on what year your Omega is you may be able to do the diagnosis yourself using the paper clip test. At the very least you should be able to have a half knowledgeable conversation with your mechanic - usually the reason I post up before going to them.
