    What's the story?

Is it open? Is it going to be re-opened at all?

I really hope so, it was a great little pub (and a great pint of Smithwick's at that :))

The last person who had it last is now running Fureys on bridge street. Don't know if Hargadons will open again there are alot of restrictions on the building and it needs work done.

There only 1 pub in O'Connell street itself! McGarrigles
The arches and the irish house only kinda count!
I always liked Canavans and don't know why it closed?!?

The guy who had it has another pub in Sligo and tbh it never does really well!

Forgot about the pub round the corner from it. Used to be beezies. Another waste!

Canavans attracted a lot of welfare checks I remember. Hardgadons is/was a great bar so fingers crossed it reopens

Wasn't "Canavans" actually "Cavanaghs"? It was badly run. Ear splitting dance music played on a crappy PA. Very uncomfortable. Nice decor around the bar though. Hargadons is a real shame. I don't know if such a place in any other town would be treated like that.
