The Ryanair Shannon - Madrid route is now listed on their website as Until 27 Oct. For some time now it hasn´t been bookable for dates after that. I've asked in both airports and local staff have had no information. There was never any mention of changes on this route in a Ryanair press release.

Does anyone know if this route has been cancelled for good or moved to Apr - Oct like other routes to Milan, Murcía etc ?

Ryanair never publicise the fact that they are pulling off routes. They just do it and then publicise any new routes they are now flying with the free aircraft. They have been doing this for years. You often see in the papers 'Ryanair announces 6 new routes from Shannon' but they don't tell you they are cancelling several others to make way for these new ones.

I dont think the Madrid flight was one of the ones they said they were dropping on the last announcment they made.

Back in May they announced new routes and several cancellations/summer only changes but nothing about Madrid.

    The new routes were:

    Route Starts Frequency
    Birmingham Nov 1 x Daily
    Dublin Nov 2 x Daily
    F’ventura Nov 1 x Weekly
    Kaunas Nov 2 x Weekly
    Leeds Nov 3 x Weekly
    Luton Nov 1 x Daily
    Riga Nov 2 x Weekly
    Tenerife Nov 1 x Weekly

From November Ryanair will close 3 routes from Shannon to Bournemouth, Lodz and Rome while Biarritz, Carcassonne, Milan, Murcia, Nantes and Venice will operate on a summer only basis (Apr – Oct) to accommodate these 8 new routes.
