Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thats junior though, maybe he's becoming a "native" already. :)

Gald to see someone talking about Lucas on this thread, he really is looking like a steal for the 5 million we paid for him. Wouldn't be surprised if Momo goes once we secure Masc. The midfield song won't work as well tho :)

The let's not be counter-attacked game which derived from playing a negative game ? Yet, still it failed alas like the last few years attempts have it seems.Strangely enough none of them home defeats came from playing an open game which is last time i checked an attacking game. The Pool are good enough to beat United, like all top teams are, but unlike Arsenal, not by attacking them. The negative game suits the Pool why change it ? Recent history shows gaining a 1:0 win by playing sleeptastic football works sometimes , then why change ???

I seem to remember Liverpool having the better chances and playing the better football on the day in that game. Very unlucky not to get a result.

5 million pounds. 8 million euro.

Anyone think Liverpool have been negative recently and that we'll "revert to type" for Man Utd?

    Mike.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading in here after the Arsenal game that it's all about the result. Doesn't matter who played better and controlled the passing, it all comes down to goals scored! :p

Xabi Alonso, lucas Lev-ia, gerard and Mascheranoooooooooo-o-ooo.:)

The Better footballers more than make up for the slight drop in tune.

    = 13 million Europounds.

I agree...but I was replying to a post about the way the teams played rather than the scoreline.

    :D

considering some of the dross that gets bought and sold in the PL for 5m thats a bargain....

The Reds team in full: Reina, Arbeloa, Riise, Hobbs, Carragher, Gerrard, Mascherano, Sissoko, Voronin, Torres, Crouch. Subs: Itandje, Hyypia, Kewell, Kuyt, Babel

Wheres the logic in playing Carragher and droppign Hyypia when carra is 1 card from a suspension:confused: It's bound to happen now. Surely giving Hobbs a game was the ideal time to rest Carra.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

I like the look of that team. Hope Hobbs does well. Midfield looks unusual to say the least but at least we have our 2 best strikers up front

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Bizarre. Hyypia/Agger for Utd then. Sissoko with Masch and Gerrard right/Riise left.

    Mike.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,225 ✭✭✭Chardee MacDennis

    nice strong bench though.

    is this the formation then?

    Reina
    Hobbs-Carra-Arbeloa
    Masch-Sissoko
    --Gerrard
    Riise
    Voronin
    Torres----Crouch

bah i'm off to play football manager!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

I misread that line up, no Finnan so its 4-3-3 then?

    Reina
    Arbeloa-Hobbs-Carra-Riise
    Gerrard---Sissoko---Masch
    --Crouch--Torres-Voronin

    Yikes

    Mike.

    Reina
    Arbeloa-Hobbs-Hyypia-Riise
    Gerrard-Sissoko-Masch-Voronin
    Crouch--Torres

maybe? voronin plays on the left for the ukraine i think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,067 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

That is one weird lineup. Three center midfielders and no wingers ? Unless Voronin is going to play on the wing ? V.strange. I think youve got it pretty much right although it could be this.

    Arbeloa--Hobbs--Carragher--Riise

    ---Gerrard--Mascherano--Sissoko

    Voronin

    Torres--Crouch

Also, if Hobbs is being given a start, it should be in place of Carragher considering he is on 4 yellows. Maybe Hyypia is proper knackered though ?

Wouldve thought 442 with Voronin deeper than usual and playing a similar role to Stevie. Can see Carra coming off after 60minutes once the game is won (hopefully)

    Reina

    Arbeloa
    Carragher
    Hobbs
    Riise

    Mascherano---Sissoko

    Gerrard

    Torres
    Voronin

    Crouch

same sort of shape as vs Newcastle.

Yeah actually, that looks like a decent lineup. Suppose we will be seeing Kewell, Babel, Benayoun, Hyypia & Kuyt come in against Marseille then.

    any streams for this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,013 ✭✭✭yayamark

imo hes taking a risk with hobbs and voronin 2 players im not sure about

RE; Hypia i like him but when playing against fast forwards hes lost, ask urself the question if ferguson had him would he have got rid of him by now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Yeh I think whatawaster has that right. Hyypia obviously being rested as he's set to play in the Marseille and United games then. Carragher one booking away is really cutting it fine, losing him for the United match would be catastrophic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Did Carragher get booked? Surely he must have. No record of a booking, can't believe that wasn't given. Grr :/ Clearly outside the box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,225 ✭✭✭Chardee MacDennis

    penalty to reading

    OUTSIDE!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,399 ✭✭✭✭Thanx 4 The Fish

Was at least a yard outside the box that, never should have been a pen. Assistant has got that very wrong.

    carra get a yellow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,038 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

cock. awful decision from the assistant ref. Didnt look like Carra got a yellow at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

No record of a yellow, nobody saw it, not recorded on the BBC. Can't believe that :/ Real test now for Liverpool, if they come back from this they'll show real title credentials.

to be honest i think i prefer the wrong call and the pen given, then the right call and a yellow for carra. At least this way we have plenty of time to get back into this, but we really need Carra for next weekend.

I would agree with ya Rebel, think you should prefer that too. Which is why I'm so annoyed :P Would have loved to face Hyypia and Hobbs in central defence.

p.s. What has happened to Finnan? Is Rafa dropping him for any reason or is it just rotation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,411 ✭✭✭shotamoose

Reading playing really well, bombing down the wings, don't think our formation's working at all.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,698 ✭✭✭IrishMike

Have a nice wad on torres to score and liverpool to win @ 2-1
Come on fernando dont go letting me down!!!!!

Oh and sould someone please take sissoko off, id prefer to see John O Shea play
for liverpool over him at this stage.

Rafa mentioned in a recent interview that a few players were close to coming back to fitness and Finnan was one of them, so he must have picked up a bit of a knock or something. Its odd though, usually we know someone's injured when they get injured, whereas both Aurelio and Finnan just disappeared and the first we hear is when Rafa says they're nearly back.
