Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    2nd half passing is a bit better than the 1st. Gerrard and Alonso getting on the ball more. Yossi needs to come off. Bring on Pennant.

    I had when they decide to take extra time. It's a dangerous game. concede now and we're ****ed.

    If we'd tried and scored theres no way Chelsea would get 2 in the last few mins.

    Away goals hardly count during extra time do they????? :o:confused::p

    Another few mins maybe after Babels goal but yeah, too much once the third went in.

    Next year.

    The own goal & penalty cost us in the end. Hard to take ... Especially with it being Chelsea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,407 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

    Well done Chelsea, good luck in the final.

    - If Torres was injured, fair enough. If not - ...

    - Hyppia made an error in judgement. It happens. He had been a great servant and I can't be too annoyed;

    - Drogba scored two good strikers goals - not a whole lot to be done for either;

    - Gerrard was poor. No ifs, no buts;

    - Kuyt tried really hard but possibly should have been taken off after 75 minutes or so when he began to look a bit spent;

    - On an overall level, after we scored the goal we gradually let it slip away from us again and the Chelsea goals had been coming;

    - Hyppia should have had a penalty, it might have made a difference;

    - Can't really complain. I think the players tried as hard as they could. Chelsea worked very hard and were fairly clinical. It all spun on the Riise OG, but that's the way when there isn't that much between teams in a cup tie;

    Bitterly disappointed. :(

    Totally outplayed on the night. Bit mistified at the total exclusion of Crouch. Season over now.
    Riise made an error for the 3rd Chelsea goal, compunding his OG in the first leg. Can't see anything but him leaving in the summer.

    Some goal by Babel. :)

    I reckon the knives will be out for Benitez again. I think he is the right man for the job. It is still quite clear that our squad is tangibly weaker than the ManU and Chelsea's. Will this summer bring us any closer? With the current impass in the boardroom, I wouldn't bet on it. Unsure times ahead. It is possible that failure to achieve CL final might weaken Hick's position due to revenue not received. If that is the case, maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

    Anyway, dissapointing, but can't complain on the night.

    I think they were lucky,risse own goal.They got away with a penalty!
    If risse had not scored that own goal they wouldnt have gone through.simple as.

    am I btter yes,I dont like small clubs with no history getting into the champions league final.

    luck was a maor part but chelsea played great and i'm happy for frank.

    Rafa did little wrong and is in no danger (in fact is position may not have been stronger for some time). The failings were at the back - Riise bye bye, Hyypia a bit to slow as we know, Agger injury, then Skrtel injured and of course Aurelio knocked last week.

    Mike.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,448 ✭✭✭evil_seed

    Obviously disappointed with the result. Can't complain about the performance, we left everything on the pitch. I think Skrtels injury caused havoc with the plans for substitutes. Torres being taken off was totally justified with that rocket from Babel. Well done Chelsea it had to happen eventually,

    I have to commend Liverpool on giving us a great game but I have to say in my honest opinion Liverpool's team and squad were strong enough to win a trophy this year. I have said it many times here that I believe Rafa is one of the best if not the best Europeans managers he was unlucky over the two legs especially with the OG tonight but I do think if Liverpool want to kick on and challenge for the Premier League they have to change the manager

    Pi$$ed of with the ref for his decisions.

    2 of chelseas goals looked like they were offside.

    Hyypia and Babel brought down in the box, as the commentators said Essien didn't get the ball and caught the player so it should have been a peno.

    I agree ... To hear the Chelsea fans singing the "champions league your having a laugh" is farcicle.. Abramhovich has spent millions just to win the CL... whereas Liverpools EC/CL history is only eclipsed by 2 other clubs. :rolleyes:
