Brand new rig, CPU cooler too big!

Hi guys, got a big nice fan for my CPU but its obstructs the mobo chipset heatsink unfortunately, its a rather large heatsink, like 2 and half inches high, i managed to get my hands on a very small low heatsink, my question is do you reckon this is ok to put on my mobo chipset? or is it a bad idea?

Is the new small one rated to cool your chipset? if not i would not risk it. What mobo do you have? what make is the newchipset, what is your cpu fan?
