Has anyone else had a similar problem with the Linksys WAG54GS (with speedbooster). When it's turned on and working fine for a while it powers off by itself. It has the V1.00 firmware. Any advice?

Update the firmware from the linksys site or within the router

There certainly was an early problem with this model where it lost all its setting spontaneously and it has been corrected with later firmware. However this sounds a different type of problem and sounds related to the operational side of the linksys rather than the firmware.

There is a later firmware update than the one you have so might be worth trying.

    Thanks...Will try the firmware flash..

When I do power up the router none of the settings are lost.
Incidentaly, a friend of mine also has a Linksys WAG54GS with the V1.01 firmware, which reset itself into French !

Backup the settings beforehand. My Netgear usually keeps my settings but it's handy to have a backup nonetheless.

Perhaps your friend's router was meant for the French? You often see UK, FR, etc. after the model number on the box. Same product but probably just defaults to a different language.

I asked him, he said it was set up UK-English and the next day it has reset all the settings user/pass and VCP/VPI and was in French. Just did a reset and was able to reconfigure the settings.

Could the powering off but itself be the PSU/Transformer?

I had that problem when I first got mine and the firmware update fixed. I have the exact same model of router.

I used the latest update from the Linksys website and have not had a single problem with this router since. Can't tell you which version of the firmware was the latest when I did it as I'm in work but it was only a couple of months ago that I got the router.

Restore to factory default before you upgrade firmware.
