    She would have been safe enough.

    The caffeine content of an espresso is about 100mg, so 100*2*7 = 1400mg

    The lethal dose is ~10g in a grown man, (LD50 ~200mg/kg) but any dose above 600-800mg would leave anyone seriously uncomfortable, with fever etc.

    I don't know what weight she was though so she coulda been more susceptible

    My initital thoughts when I read the article yesterday was that she
    hadn't really had that much coffee, I'd easily exceed 7 doubles in a day.
    I've often exceeded that in a morning.

    I've only once OD'd on Espresso and it wasn't nice, felt absolutely terrible for a full day. This was only recently when testing out some coffee equipment. I had three lovely (single shot) Espressos this morning. Not a bother. I'd drink about 7-10 in a day.

    Amateur...

    Robusta beans have more caffeine - could have been ****ty quality espresso.
