I have backed up my statements, this is not a debate about the success of Toys R' us in the last decade, this is about how the earth was created. It's an open discussion. I was expecting people to come on here and have constructive objections to religion, not resort to childish crap.

Because it is my belief. I didn't invent this relgion like 2 hours ago. If you asked a priest, sheikh or a cohen, they would respond by saying something along the lines of 'God is infinite, nothing created God, God is eternal'

Why do I take the Bible seriously? Good question, just last year I witnessed two morons in my class playing football with a bible. The reason I take the bible seriously is because it is my sacred book, and is actually very interesting.

Ahhh Aidan thankyou very much. Now I see, you people don't want people objecting to your views, that is why one of the posters said 'I said when I saw this topic, I would not reply'. No matter what I would have said, none of you would have even had a proper discussion about it. I'm not the problem, in reality I have been pretty outright and pleasent considering the unfair bashing I have recieved.

So basically, you think the Bible and Christianity is true because it's very old?

People used to think the earth was flat. Just because somehting is very old doesn't mean it's any more true than anything makes up in the modern world.

Try this question, and answer without circular logic, please:

I do have to say, being an athesit I love the Bible. It's such a great book, the following are some of my fav lines from it.

At the risk of making a ruining a troll this is an interesting question. Why is the universe so suitable for there to be something rather then nothing? (as would be the case if most of the fundamental constants were different)

I know off three answers to this
1. Because if it was not we would not be here to ask the question. This is the Anthropic Principle

2. Because a physicist god twisted the knobs into the right values then hit the start button. This is not that rare a view amongst physicists I know. This is very different to the personal god who sets bushes on fire etc though.

3. There are the starts of theories about why these constants should have these values. Some string theory theories give reasons why protons have certain weights etc. The most interesting (to a layman, me) theories rely on Darwinian universe selection. Where Universes are created by blackholes and so those universes most likely to produce black holes are the ones most likely to have "baby" universes. In turn black hole creating universes will be selected for. It just so happens that our universe is near the optimum for creating black holes and so it is quite likely that this one with such constants would exist.

I am not saying that any of these theories are accurate just that scientists are starting to try and answer this question.
