Looking at getting a video camera to document holiday adventures, thinking of a Panasonic NV-GS320 MiniDV Videocamera likely from komplett. Just want something that is a good all rounder and sub 500E

My PC is P4 with Raedon X600 and 500gigs of memory 1gig ram. Reckon this should be ok, do I need to get something to transfer the video content to the PC or can this be done via USB, i.e. best set up to get best quality from camera

I was also interested in Canon HV20 HDV Videocamera, very tempting but a little too expensive, heading to the US at the end of the year so could be a option by then.

Am i right in assuming I would need to upgrade PC to something a lot more serious in terms of ram and harddrive? Are many people actually using HDV? I have a feeling it is not worth the investment just yet and that miniDV will be around for good number of years and is the best bet for me.
