    Hi all,

The car's due to be off the road for a few months and I'd rather not pay tax for it while its not on the road.

How do I go about declaring it as such?

    Thanks a million,

    Les

As far as i know if you have tax paid on it there is nothing you can do to stop it getting used. When renewing your tax you need to get a form fill in the itmes it was off the road and get the gaurds to stamp it. then just hand it in with the tax renewal form.

I don't think you can until you want to get it taxed when its next on the road, you need to visit a Garda station and have it declared off the road for a certain period and signed off.

Indeed. We have no equivalent of the Uk's SORN.

Just sign a declaration when you want to get it taxed again.

When it comes to renewing your tax again there's a section at the bottom of the renewal form for declaring a period of non-use. This section needs to be filled out, signed and stamped at your local garda station....
