California e-voting machines found to have serious vulnerabilities

three manufacturers of e-voting machines have been found to have serious multiple vulnerabilities. including failure to protect ballot secrecy. looks like we were ahead of the game in our review. all the manufacturers have been conditionally recertified if they fix the vulnerabilities reports here…

Bruce Schneier makes the point that the conditional recertification misses the point: the vulerabilities are there because there's no in depth thought put into the security of these systems from design through implementation.

Fixing the identified vulnerabilities doesn't make the machines secure.
