Hi, I am new to all this and don't really understand how it all works, that is, upgrading maps, installing them etc.. I need to organise a sat-nav system with irish maps installed in a Ford Focus. Would I be able to get this done in one place or would it be better to buy seperately and then get installed.
    Thanks

Take a trip to any Halfords or Harvey Norman store and have a look at the selection of Portable sat nav systems around. Navtech recently upgrades their maps (V9) and are in my opinion the best for Ireland at the moment.
Brands such as Garmin use navtech - check with the shop assisitants for other brands

Cheers, complete novice to this. I just thought that you could buy a system and that would be it. A bit overwhelmed when I start looking through this board, there seems to be so many systems/configurations/maps/versions. Will check out Halfords tomorrow. Thanks.

Its not as bad as it looks! If you are driving mainly in Ireland then navtech do have the best maps right now . Personally I drove in Spain this year round Costa Dorada area and the maps were spot on . The limit to your choice will depend on how much you want to spent and the extras you want . If you log onto the garmin site you can select and compare different products.
