I'm looking at getting wireless/mobile broadband. I dont want to get a land line in. I live a few miles north of Gorey, out in the countryside.

A guy in work suggested getting the 3G modem that you connect into your computer, that they are selling on the vodafone website. are these any good?

does anyone else have any other providers in this area that they could recommend?

    Thanks

alright brother, i live in gorey. Just bought the vodafone broadband from the shop on the main street the other day and am very happy with it!its completely wireless and can be used anywhere in the country!
99 euro for modem plus 100+questions (like signing up for a bill phone)
then 15 a month, 30 a month after three months.
its seems just as fast as my old ntl broadband in dublin!
i recommend it completely.best thing is that you buy it in the shop and use it five minutes later (or whenever you get home)
you need passport or driving licence, bank statement and a utility bill in your name to sign up.
    hope this helps

I have had vodafone for a full year now and I regularly use in Gorey town and although Im very happy with it, its not really worth it unless you need for mobility when you compare with a good wireless or dsl connection. As the wise Mr sponge has already mentioned Permanet have coverage where you are and anyone who Ive talked to is very happy with them, Omitel/Callidus telecom have coverage around gorey too but I haven't heard anything about the quality. http://omnitel.ie/

I live in the Inch/Coolgreany area and have Permanet, overall they are pretty good, though they had some issues earlier this year.
You need to have a view of the hill beside Croghan mountain to receive it though.
