Just spotted this on Merlin's site if you put in your reg it gives the make, year and model of the car - handy for a quick check!

It thinks that my Volvo's a Volkswagen and doesn't recognise two of my classics - whatever its tied into its an inferior form of Cartell. Seems accurate enough for the moderns though.

BTW the number of owners looks like the number of owners in this country. Previous foreign owners are not counted!

My escort was registered in March 2000 and is on 00 plates. I suspect she might be really a 99 that was unsold.

Every mechanic/tyre fitter has commented on the fact that it is a 2000 escort. They are always surprised by it.

No I think it does include foreign owners. My car comes up as 2 owners and I'm the first to register it here

I think some details on these systems are just arsed. My Gf's 00 Scenic comes up as having 4 owners but the VLC says shes the 2nd. I reckon the VLC is the more trustworthy.

I notice it won't accept the old-style pre-'87 reg. plates (same goes for ZV plates). Shame, I wan't to see what happened to all of our old cars.

Perhaps that's because it's known that it is a used imported car and therefore must have at least one previous owner? If the imported car had four previous owners abroad, I presume they would be counted as one.

Slightly OT and a bit anal I know but the Focus was actually on sale from late 1998. A neighbour of mine had a 1998 one.

It was a '98 Saxo VTR, I bought it 2nd hand in 2000 and sold it on in mid '03. I've seen it a couple of times since, more so around Lucan direction but not in the last 12 months or so.

all the details are correct for my 98 primera but it says its NCT'd until Aug 2010. when realey it expores aug 08.

Mine for a 01 Fabia is correct even the NCT/tax details.
Only blip is that it says it has 3 owners when i'm the 2nd owner presently on VLC.
It gives the pop-up about not finding car on my mam's '00 Fiat Seicento but finds all the details which appear correct when clicking ok!
