Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm looking at this place for accomodation for my first year in Kevin Street DIT, any opinions/feedback? It seems TOO cheap for Dublin.

    How cheap is too cheap?

Having just done the rounds and gotten a flat, there is a LOT of ****e out there at the moment, however in the end I got a great flat for a bit less then what other, similar, places are going for.

If the place is nice, and in good nick, then go for it!

89E inc broadband heat and stuff, they have a website and are recommended by the DIt website but that might not be saying much, it's going to dissapear in a ****ing FLASH at 6am when everyone gets results, so I'm just going to nab it and hope for the best.

Also, anyone know what the broadband is like there? I'm not one to skimp on my BB so crappy broadband is the only thing that will grate me.
I'm just worried, I'm looking at big numbers and I don't want to commit big numbers to find it's horrible.

I can honestly say that my experience at the gateway was a nightmare.
To name a few "minor" grudges.....
Window was smashed within three weeks of moving in.. What can I say.. its in the heart of Ballymun..
Broadband is dire!!!.. You can only get connection in the room closest to your front door or it keeps dropping as the signal is crap. And when you do the speed is more like dial-up.. I ended up getting Ripwave because I was so fed up with it...
Oh, and a word of caution regarding the on-site caretaker. The one we had decided to take a 2am walk about in my bedroom while pissed out of his head. Woke up to find him routing through my desk.

Oh and be warned €89 doesnt cover everything. You have to pay €600 deposit and €300 a term for utilities and €100 for broadband...

Well, thanks for posting, but you're a bit late. It's been the only place I've been able to find at all so I'm ****ed now then. Looks like my first year is going to be a nightmare. And the one thing I wanted to be alright to keep me sane is **** according to you. (Broadband)

    :(

If the broadband is that **** I think I'll just get my own in. I wonder what I can get installed there, I presume only ****ty wireless.

RC - people make the accomdation, so don't get too down.

If you're in with a good crowd, then it doesn't matter if its a barn, you'll still have fun.

Also, the nicer the place, the more potential there is for people to break down - as when the place is cack people usually go out of their way to try and make it as good as possible.

    So don't get too worried!
