Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hey sorry if this question has been asked a million times (couldn't find it anywhere though).... about to buy a really cheap converted van. it has two rings and a sink but not the 6 foot clearance... is there any way round this without having to fork out a lot of cash? gonna get a quote as a commercial van and if its not too steep i'll go that route hopefully it'll be fit for the nct. just wondering what anyone else has done. thanks, john. oh yeah and who checks to see if it is 6 foot? i've seen local officers mentioned in other threads but who are these people?? sorry for my ignorance, thanks again.

    hey again.
looks like i've run into a bit of a brick wall on this one. the van can't be insured as a camper van because it doesn't have the clearance and can't be insured as a commercial van because its too old... 1989. anyone have any ideas? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Insurance companies ...don't you just love them?

I'm in a similar situation trying to get a quote for a VW transporter (with seats and windows) as a private vehicle ...funilly enough it wouldn't be a problem if it was a camper or a commercial.

    As for your situation:

Keep on trying ...maybe you may need an engineers report for the van, but it should be insurable somehow.

Have you tried Britton insurances? ...they are pretty helpful when it comes to non run of the mill stuff.

I know its driving me crazy now. I can get my hands on a lovely little van but it just seems to fall in between insurable vehicles...aaagghhh! I haven't tried Britton so i'll give them a shout in the morning. It seems a bit mad that i can't get it insured privately somehow. Anyway i'll give it a shot tomorrow. Thanks.

woo hoo managed to get a few quotes today. All I need now is to get a garage cert. Some of the people I spoke to said it had to be from a main dealership others said it didn't. Anyone know more about this? Sorry for all the questions. I'll be seeing ye round the place soon i hope!

I got an "engineers report" for my motorhome from an independent insurance assessor. Cost 50 euro, a nice long chat and a quick glance at the yoke :D

Other than that, I'd say anything with a big shiny stamp will do.
