Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Howdy,

have an old nokia which I am upgrading this week.

The miss' did the same recently and got a new 3G sim with the new phone which had to be activated.

Is it possible for me to use 2 phones (old one with old sim to use when out biking/workin) with the same number. Without having to switch sim cards each time.

    just curious.

    Thx

    K

Technically it is possible (I know a couple who has on O2 and they are happy with it) but they keep on badgering them trying to get them to change to a newer separate tarrifs (which would be more expensive).
I doubt they will allow but its worth a shot.

You can't have the same number on 2 SIMs. Best bet is probably to buy a second prepay SIM and divert your calls to it for the phone you bring out biking.

Actually, I was in finland on my holidays this year. I was around someones house and their phone rang while I was in the kitchen. I ran outside to my friend and he had allready answered the call on another phone he had on him. When i asked him how he done that he said that he had 2 sim cards with same number in 2 different phones! Now im not sure if it was the network that provided the 2nd sim or a 3rd party. I can find out im sure.

Yes it used to be possible in Holland on several networks, and was provided by the network, they called it "dual sim". It was used a lot in the days when there were "carkits" around that had a mobile phone built in (i.e. there was actually a SIM card slot in the car). My father used to have one.

You couldn't actually use the two phones at the same time though, it would take the phone that was turned on last. The first one would then be knocked off the network and you had to turn it back off/on to regain service.

In general it was a pain having to turn phones on/off all the time to switch between the two of them and sometimes they would both not work for a while. I don't know if this is still offered by the networks though as it's very uncommon these days.
