    Here's mine:
No matter how late you leave it to drive through a yellow light which recently became red you can always look in your mirror and be consoled by the fact that there will be at least one other chancer right behind you, if not two or three.

I like the fact that in rural villages, everyone salutes you :)
This happens even if you are just out for a spin and not from the area.
This does not apply to D reg cars on their way to their holiday homes while locals can't even get planning permission.

Also bikers usually nod at each other and Luas and Bus Eireann drivers always give friendly waves
And tractor drivers always salute. Sharing the love

Lets keep this thread positive folks, we already have a thread for stuff that annoys drivers

I like when someone gives you their used pay and display ticket in car parks.

Always do that where I can.

Country roads, scenery and finally a flash of the hazards when you pull in to let someone pass on a single lane road or the flash of the headlights acknowledging thanks, the nod and wave from "most" people when you let them out at junctions makes driving a more pleasureable and less stressful experience.

The great twisty driving roads outside of Dublin, particularly in the west of Ireland. Once you dont get stuck behind a train of cars hindered by a tractor, driving bliss can be accomplished.

I also think that people are relatively corteous at letting folks put out when compared to the USA & France.

The twisty, good quality road from Oughterard => Maam Cross => Maam Bridge (Co. Galway)... It's worth the 12mpg in the 'weekend' car* :D

    * The Evo, not the smelly diesel german hog ;)

The way everyone tends to let eac other out a junctions etc and then give a flash of the lights, this does not happen at all here in London!

    Polite drivers and backroads,

I like the fact that we generally don't use the horn in a futile fashion while stuck in heavy/standing traffic. It happens regularly in other countries but it just seems so pointless.

Driving at decent speed down a road without tractors and trucks ruining the day. Its rare though, :-(

Driving on a minor road that is not littered with pot-holes...

Driving through Dublin very early in the morning or late at night when there is literally no traffic, especially at weekends.

Arriving back on the driveway after being stuck in yet another pathetic Dublin traffic jam.

My fave thing is being stuck behind a Lorry or Cement mixer in the overtaking lane on the M50 as they crawl along paralell to another slow vehicle leaving a mile gap between them and the car in front. Really is fun.

Driving is just a super duper experience in Dublin. Chocked full of wonderful suprises.

My favourite thing about driving in Ireland is that its the same as driving in any other country in the world. A mix of good/bad roads and good/bad drivers.

Yeah, parts of the N68/67 from Ennis to Kilkee is like a rollercoaster ride in my Fiesta :)

When you pull over to let a motorbike pass you and he lifts his hand slightly to acknowledge your kindness

The way people dont drive in bus lanes after 7pm (or anytime they are not in use) and allows me to pass them all by

When the road surface deteriorates abruptly only to realise that you've just entered Northern Ireland :)
