Unfortunately it's not just a set of pics on their own. They're a compilation that you download and they come in a little kind of program. I'll try and find a link for yourself and CLADA.......

I'm 95% sure there was a gun shot. I was sitting at the window eating lunch and turned around as soon as I heard the first bang. I work almost directly opposite where it happened and I'm up a few floors so I had a really good view

    are you the suns photographer

lol no they are ARW, if I wrote ERU before it was a mistake. But they're not all on youtube anyway.

These guys could be normal soldiers and officers just wearing rangers kit out with their faces covered or blurred for effect but we just have to trust them a little here:D

As its an interest of yours Lemansky, there are some photos in the Sun today. they look like they are taken from an office above by a camera phone. Some have Garda jackets, others don't. One has blue gloves and what looks like bandages (maybe a paramedic) hardly ERU looks like he's a lover of doughnuts:D if you know what I mean.

would that stand up in court (an area of battle that the ARW have never seen ) or to severe public scrutiny (an area of battle that the ARW will never see)

    http://www.specialoperations.com/Foreign/Ireland/Rangers/East_Timor/Default.htm

I just saw this, it wasnt the one I had in mind and I haven't looked at them. They are probably the ones on youtube.

The second link has what I want on it. Click to download the screensaver and you'll get the pics I was on about. Also on that page you can read about the Rangers. It's very good, however the bit about the HRT duties could do with a little more explaining. Premier means that they would be used if terrorists and are politicians/dignitaries or somebody that attracted worldwide attention were involved. If it was terrorists then ARW because they have the training to deal with the types of terrorists who would do that , if no terrorists were involved and it was just attracting the world's media the ARW would be used for show so as they can be seen to be putting out the big guns from the army as opposed to a police unit.

I didn't actually see the photo CLADA. Is there anyway I could get it online because I'd really need to see it first.

checked your links lemansky and read the following:

The Army Ranger Wing is still the country's premier hostage rescue unit, not the Garda Emergency Response Unit. Although both train together closely, the two units have different roles. The ERU is the specialist firearms unit of An Garda Siochana ( which actually means 'guardians of the peace') which is a largely unarmed force. The ERU provide armed backup to the Gardai in situations where weapons may be used. Such situations include dealing with armed robberies, drug dealing, subversive groups etc. The ERU is a separate unit to the SDU. Special Detective Unit are primarily an investigative unit, although they too carry firearms. The Ranger Wing train with other SOF groups around the world, including US Army Rangers, British SAS, Australian & NZ SAS, GIGN, GSG9, Dutch Commandos and the Swedish Special Forces. They would be logical choice for any major hostage incident, with the ERU acting in a support role.

    Sounds a bit bitchy!!

im just thinking that that photo must only be of the lower rank because if theres any sort of trouble at all in all companys its the little fellas who get caught and the supervisors always head for the hills and and blame the little fellas so Id say there are are no photos of the ERU boys as they are all sergeants and wouldnt like the heat

Well they really don't view the ERU as something which deserves much mention on a site like that so they tell the truth about the ARW's officail role without actually going into what it means, so they make it a bit bitchy to make up for it!:D
    Did you get the screensaver?

Yea in the photo it is probably some normal detectives who were called into help with some extra firepower. You'd know an ERU man because of the kit but also I believe that they used balaclavas at some point during it(according to a post here) so you'd see them. They ERU always fade into the background after the ops so if they make the news they are only called armed detectives, they are rarely mentioned except like here where they couldn't avoid it!They're quite camera shy:p

also there are only sergeants out of the 49 people who are in the ERU, of course there could be additional people but thats one of those top secret things if it does exist! The publically but hard to find word figure is 49

right, this is my first post.here goes nothing..
im going to apply for the gardai when i leave school.i have a very big interest in ALL things Garda.I recently recieved a tour of Templemore(almost got to talk to the guys who train ERU,the Tactical Training Unit).i live near Limerick City so i've seen plenty of garda action.LEMANSKY,i could PM you a link to some very cool ERU pics as you have the same interests as me!(i.e. Garda,ERU,SDU,ARW,SF etc.)
i was, however, saddened when i read of that robber getting a hiding.it's not on!
i also(like LEMANSKY)have found a lot of public domain info, and as regards to ARW being involved....not a chance!ERU are THE ELITE of the Garda force.whether it be their physical fitness or skills, they are the best!
LEMANSKY,could PM me if you have any info regarding ERU selection,i would greatly appreciate it!
