Correct Anto Mc C, it is Garndiner st. Did anyone notice the spire in the background?

    I did, it's a great photo too.

He said it was Southside. I'm thinking Kilmainham now.

It'd have taken me ages to get that, if i did get it at all. Alright, who's next? :D

I haven't taken any pictures in a while, so I'll throw up some scraps I have lying around on the computer. Some easy, a couple may cause problems.

EDIT: I know the last one is a little bit of cheating, but where's the harm in a bit of difficulty?

2nd is City Quay looking onto the junction with Princess st.

3rd is Pearse st beside St Marks Church.

    4th is North Frederick st.

5th is Irish Life shopping mall.

I don't have the faintest idea of the first.

Damn, that was quick. I knew the Pearse St one would be easy, but I posted it for a reason. Does anybody know what is/was behind the doors there?

#1 isn't Greenmount Avenue. It's probably going to be too hard, so I'll give a clue. It's a small street in Dublin 8.

Was it an art school or a vec? I remember there was one around there somewhere.

I asked my Ma who is in her early 50's and has lived in Pearse st her whole life. She said when she was a kid it was Angelos chipper. She also says that she doesn't remember if it's been anything since then.

Did she ever notice any arty students hanging around? I thought it might have been a studio for one of the colleges.

No 1 Is either in the Tenters, off Donore Avenue, perhaps Clarence Mangan or else New Ireland Rd in Rialto. The houses are very similar.

I wasn't trying to be smart! I presumed that you may have meant Prince's St but I thought that was beside the GPO. I now realise that is Prince's St North and I didn't know there was any other. Very educational here. :D

Is the last one Greenville Avenue? (off Donore Road).

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,267 ✭✭✭Exit

Some good guesses, but I guess it's too generic a picture to get it spot on. I'll give it to Hagar who was closest with New Ireland Road. It's actually Carrick Terrace located between South Circular Road and Reuben Street.

Thanks for the info Anto and thanks for asking. I've always been curious about what used to be there. I presume now that it's just empty space owned by Trinity?

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,993 ✭✭✭✭Wishbone Ash

I'll be seriously impressed if someone can correctly name these steps. It's very unusual name.

I have no idea where that is, but it definitely looks interesting. Doesn't even really look like Dublin.

I'm sure I've heard the name! But I can't think of it :o

It's the steps from Bow Bridge up to James St./Mount Brown

    Is it Cromwell's Quarters? :D
