Spot on ODS - well done! :)

Here's a wider image. (The rear of River House, the old MTO, can be seen on the top left of the pic).

    Many thanks :)

As an aside point, the old Motor Tax Office has long been regarded as one of Dublin's ugliest eyesores, located as it is beside Gandon's magnificent Four Courts. One would then think that redevelopment would be welcome - however Dublin City Council are just after allowing an 11 storey block which would be bloody awful if it goes ahead - twice the height of the old MTO

No - Benburb Street would be Dublin 7! (and the wall there is much higher ;))

Spot on! :) Supreme Wash on Belvedere Road.

(I took that pic while stuck in traffic - is there anything that laundrette doesn't do? Fair play to them).

    It's gone.

I was working from memory. It used to run from Summerhill, along the side of the bus garage, to the corner of Gardiner Lane.

Another bit of my old Dublin obliterated. :(

Used to live in the IFSC, and when I cycle to work I do so via Belvedere Road :)
Also, reading this thread for so long has had the side effect of making me pay more attention to seemingly minor details on streets and buildings, hence my recognising the lamps :)

Was that the lane that used to run fron Mountjoy Square South to Gardiner Lane (along the side of the DIT? College)? Or was that another lane entirely?

    Ah, I see. :)

    Afraid not humberklog.

(I can't picture any building in Eccles Street looking like that. The northside is taken up with The Mater, it's car park and The Mater private. The other side has the Georgian houses and the park at the church. Although I'm working from memory - I haven't been along there in a while).

It connected Mountjoy Place with Summerhill.

    2. Commons Street, looking north. I thought it was Benburb street also, but the red brick threw me off.

    6. Department of Education. Big zoom on the lens?

Would number 4 be Strandville Avenue by any chance?

For those interested in a bit of d'oul history, 7 is the former presbytery of the Welsh Chapel, which was in the building currently housing the internet cafe with the 'graffiti-style' paint job. Apparently this part of town had a large Welsh community back then. The rest of that side of Moland Place was in tenements facing the stables of Lower Gardiner St.
