Benson st is near that new U2 tower they are supposed to build.

Hmm, further east would be the revamped Forbes Street but it don't look like it, then again its been a while i strolled down that way! :)

Hmmm , something fishy going on here. i just checked my street atlas and this does seem to be Benson St, so well done Gurramok.

However, look at the brand new nameplate in the picture and it says " Blood Stoney Road". There's no mention of that in the street atlas so it looks like the developer is deliberately trying to mess up our game by playing with the nameplates.... feckin developers

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,992 ✭✭✭✭gurramok

Yeh, very strange alright. They should keep the old names though, they have a bit of history http://streetsofdublin.wordpress.com/2007/11/24/blood-stoney-road/

If i'm not mistaken, where you stood taking that pic would be Longboat quay and that ain't on many atlases either!

EDIT: checking myhome.ie maps gives Hanover Quay instead for Longboat quay at Benson st, still no longboat on google maps still :)

Yeah, I was beside the Spar on Longboat quay, more accurately known as Hanover quay.

Maybe "Blood stoney Road " is a brand new road running parrallell to , and between Forbes St and Benson St.. methinks a field trip is in order..

Anyway your turn Gurramok, what have you got for us ?

Both terms can be seen in this link for Corcoran Jennison Ltd.

"501 Longboat Quay North, Blood Stoney Road,".

I've never heard of either of them!

I don't think they can do that without going through a drawn out legal process (unless it's a newly created street).

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works! :D

Behold the 10 pictures below. Nothing unusual about them except that I don't know the locations.

They were ones that I uploaded long after taking them and couldn't remember the locations. In fairness, I've a fair idea about most of them but not enought to use them in the normal manner.

I won't reveal my thoughts yet as it may contaminate your thinking. ;)

As Stan would say "You tell me"! :D

    Good luck.

Yes, I knew it was taken from Collin's Barracks but I wasn't sure if the red brick building was part of the Barracks or a place in Arbour Hill or part of the prison there.

(Is the grey building behind, the prison?)

......just to add, .......if I was posting that pic normally, I would have cropped it and just shown the red building but I couldn't as I couldn't identify it - hence it's place in the 'unknown file'. ;)

Entering teacher mode (I'm sorry, we can't help it...) Bindon Blood Stoney was a Chief Engineer in Dublin Port. He's actually a very appropriate person to have a street named after in that location.
