Natural stone carpets

Hi All, Building a house at the moment and we are trying to decide what to lay on the floor in the kitchen/dining. We have seen natural stone carpets (based in Swords) at some of the shows. I like it but not sure how hard wearing they are........I would appreciate any advice or further information. Thanks for your help
