As its the silly season, I have yet another stupid question to add to the list! What does "begorrah" mean, as in the original as Gaeilge saying. I saw it used recently in the Irish Independant, but have never heard it said (except Hollywood and that doesn't count)

Doesn't mean "By God". Used as mild oath. Stems from the the fear of actually saying God i.e taking the Lords name in vain.
