    hey if a car in japan is 9 810.9893 and the vrt €4904 , is there VAT on top of it too?

    there's vat and a few other small charges on top of what you pay for the car. Then you pay VRT

    Pretty sure you also pay VAT on the shipping/insurance costs as well (after duty is applied to these).

    so how do people manage to make a saving importing a car from japan? or is not about the saving but the quality?

    There is a bit of a saving if you get it cheap in a jap auction.
    Mostly people import from Japan because the cars come with things as standard that we would consider extras or because the car is not avilable in European market.

    you buy the car for say 3000, then shipping is about 500

    you pay vat on the 3500. the there's bill of laiden... about 150 maybe and then vrt
