Not sure if this was closed off in the most recent finance act but a few of my mates said they done it last year - can you claim rent relief for living at home?

The last Budget clarified this situation so you can't claim rent relief if you're living at home anymore. If your mates did this beforehand, Revenue may investigate their folks finances since they should have been filling out tax returns for the years that they were "renting" rooms to their offspring.
