Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i think we could see an all english final this year with an all british tie in some knockout rounds..

Chelsea will definitely be there or there abouts, assuming they don't meet liverpool early on of course :p

Utd have added to the squad in terms of numbers and quality so they should have enough to cope with injuries.. that milan defeat last will also hurt and be valuable experience/motivation.

Liverpool have torres who'll add the much needed class up front. Provided Gerrard stays injury free liverpool should make a push again but i don't think they'll win it.

Arsenal have surprised me with their football this year (i know it's early on).. don't think they'll go all the way but could reach the semi's.

Rangers don't have the experience imo, to get out of the group stages but Celtic have the players and the crowd to scrape through their group. You'd fancy always celtic at home.

Ac Milan are still the side to beat imo.. if someone can take them out early on, it's anyone's trophy..

IMHO Arsenal are by far the weakest team in pot won, followed by Liverpool. the rest of the teams are evenly matched overall but I feel first team wise Milan and Barce stand out, after that it's level peggind for man yoo, chelsea and inter.
Real would be ahead of liverpool and arsenal too, but not sure thier squad will gell.

I agree about Arsenal but not with the "by far".
Liverpool would have beaten Inter last season. If they play this year, Liverpool will destroy them ..... IMO :D

one of Inter or Arsenal could be this years dark horses for me...

having said that though, i've a funny feeling that this year round mightn't be as good for english teams as previously. united's new additions are stuttering and the team i think will take a lot longer that first suspected to gel me reckons, Pool i think will focus on the league a lot more this year, at the expense perhaps of the champions league, again Arsenal are hit and miss i suppose, although i'm hoping they'll do well, and Chelsea's battering ram only seems to get them so far in the CL, although they are probably the surest bet to get to the semis.

that just what I was about to say Seaneh. Arsenal are by far the worst team in pot1 after that Id say Milan actually even though they are seeded 1st I still dont think they are great. Yea they won it but they only really played one great game and that was against Man utd in the second leg.

I think Madrid and Barca are the teams to beat this year in the CL, Madrid especially.

Perhaps if you take off the blinkers and lose the Italian fan-boi fetish you'll see where I'm coming from.

Esteban Cambiasso is 27, has been playing out of his skin for the last two years had has imporved if anything since he moved to inter.

Inter have, probably, the best squad depth in the world, thier choice of defenders is sickening, thier midfeild is bigger than chelseas and thier attacker are fairly handy too.

You are talking through your hole mate, and I'm an A.C. Fan.
Are Inter a better team than Barcelona, Milan, Manchester United, Chelsea?
Absolutely not. The above teams would eat Inter for breakfeast.

Are Inter a better team than Liverpool or Real Madrid?
Liverpool have a far superior record in the Champions League in recent years and Real Madrid are finally looking like they're going to come out of their recent slump. So, the answer again is no.

Are Inter a better team than Arsenal?
Too close to call this one. I think Cesc Fabregas gives Arsenal the edge though, he's frighteningly good.

Inter Milan's record in the Champions League in the recent years speaks for itself. They're phish poor.

looks like it is about to start. Edit sorry they are now doing a video package of every team in each pot.

this is such a painfully slow ordeal to watch...

AND WE HAVE IT AC GROUP D! and only 31 more to go...

    Edit: Arsenal group H

    Man U group F

lol he misread it as E! hilarious stuff... is there anything else on?

Woohoo, group A. I knew we could do it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

This is too complicated, and I wish it would really be just an open draw, with no teams being protected from any other team. It would be much more exciting.

Does this whole set up remind anybody of the Eurovision?

Longest draw in history. Nobody cares about these awards even the players dont look like they care, they are more interested in who they will be playing.

Going by the groups so far none of the English teams will want Celtic. Most of the best 2nd seeds got paired with the big 4. Lyon not included

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

Chelsea get Schalke aswell. Tricky enough group for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,908 ✭✭✭Daysha

The team is drawn, then the group is drawn - its not in aplphabetical order....

    Liverpool will be delighted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,908 ✭✭✭Daysha

Celtic should be happy, they held AC for 180 minutes last year and they qualified above Benfica last year. Tough group for Chelsea.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

    Liverpool - Marseille

    Mike.

Hope Chelsea have to go to Turkey...

Forward of the year - some quality nominees in there but Kaka wins it as expected.
