Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Well 1 of my 2 calls has come true anyway so far. Marseille to Liverpool - The return of Cisse! Knew it as soon as i read Cisse's interview weeks ago saying he'd love to come back and tease anfield.

Rangers and the two Ukrainian clubs would be the ones to avoid here

All of the English teams except Liverpool have tricky ties...

    Man Utd - Roma
    Chelsea - Valencia
    Arsenal - Sevilla (probably)

Group H should be a nice stroll for Arsenal and Sevilla.

The gap between England/Spain/Italy over the rest of the countries seems to be widening. Looking at the draw, I would expect to see four English, four Spanish and four Italian clubs progress.

Rangers will finish bottom of that group i reckon , a good hiding in spain for them awaits

Celtic will struggle also to get out of their group

I'm happy with the group, at least a strong enough 2nd seed to get some tough mathes going.

No real groups of death to be honest, a pretty fair draw, mostly due to the seedings being quite good this time.

Arsenal have the easiest group anyway. Rangers are fu<ked. Liverpool should have a relatively straightforward progress. Chelsea could be slightly tricky. United with the jammy easy group as usual.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,908 ✭✭✭Daysha

A: Nothing major for Liverpool, them and Porto should stroll through it.

B: Tough enough to Chelsea, it couldve been a lot worse if they didnt get Rosenborg. Them and Valencia

C: One of the toughest groups. All four have a good shout. I'll go for Real and Lazio.

D: If they didnt get Shakhtar, Celtic wouldve been delighted. It'll be tough but I'll say they'll still do it with AC

E: Very tough group. Probably the group of the death. Barca and Lyon here.

F: If theres ever a time for Utd to start performing away from home, its here. Ronaldo and Nani have to travel to their old club, we'll see a repeat of the quarter final last year with Roma (and the possibility of more crowd trouble) and then theres the prospect of Ukraine in the winter. They should still qualify with Roma, but itll be very tough

G: Inter and PSV should do it, but they travel to Russia and Turkey!

H: Arsenal are sorted, by far got the best draw of the 6 British clubs. Them and Sevilla

all spicey away fixtures for Utd..

Roma will need to get the crowd control sorted out.. on the pitch roma will be out for revenge following the 7-1 slaughtering at OT. Guaranteed to be a highly charged match. Looking forward to it, although not for the Utd fans going over

Nani and Ronaldo return to sporting, plus Utd have the whole academy/link thing going on so could get nasty depending how they react to ronaldo/nani..

Dynamo kiev never as easy place to go, bloody annoying fans too with all there airhorns, can get very hostile..

utd have an atrocious record away in europe and looking at the above, it's going to stay that way :p

Shouldn't have any problems at home though.. 9 points.

Happy with drawing Benfica but that's about it. Milan will have Ronaldo eligible this time. :( Shakhtar destroyed Celtic a couple of years ago. Glad they sold Tymoschuk and Elano but they got Lucarelli.

Lyon are crap under Alain 'Reggie' Perrin so far. I think Werder Bremen are second seeds on merit, should get through though that group is very tight

    Mike.

    Ah crap :(

Was hoping we would be drawn in Liverpools group, but noooo we had to get Barca and Lyon.

Damnit - ah well, will just have to try and get tickets for the home games and hope for a miracle.

Exactly. It's all gotten a bit Vladamir Romanov over at Lyon with the chairman making signings rather than the manager. Also, they've lost Abidal, Malouda and Tiago, all key players for them.

They do have Karim Benzema though, he's a local lad with lots of talent and desire to win. They'll be talking about him in the same vein as Ribery this time next year.

Why do Group D play their last game on the 4th? That's 3 games in 6 days for Celtic.

Milans participation in the World Club Championship...both group games have to be played simultaneously for obvious reasons.
